Leyland Titan PD3/4

The Leyland Titan chassis had a long association with Southdown Motor Services, from 1929 right through until 1967 with the delivery of the last front engine double-deckers. The Titan PD2/12 variant continued in revenue earning service up until 1971, after which a few examples were to be seen throughout the operating area in the guise of Driver Training vehicles. One of the vehicles most readily associated with Southdown Motor Services has to be the Leyland Titan PD3/5 and PD3/4, with full fronted double deck bodies by NCME (the Queen Marys). The convertible open top versions from 1964 are still a feature at Goodwood and Epsom race meetings and many Queen Marys saw long service with other operators after moving on from SMS ownership.
